Darius de Haas, vocalist
Capathia Jenkins, vocalist

“In listening to Jenkins essay such disparate material, it became clear the audience was only hearing the tip of the iceberg in terms of her range and talent.  She would begin to open up in her top belt and it was clear she had another half octave in reserve – just in case she wanted to use it.”  – New York Arts Review

The BRSO/Rural Life Music Series continues to be a smash hit with over 3,500 people attending on the grounds of the LSU Rural Life Museum to hear the symphony light up the night accompanied by the brightest musical stars.  This year we are excited to bring the hit show “Classic Soul” to Baton Rouge to celebrate the likes of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, and many more.  Joining the BRSO will be vocalists Darius de Haas and Capathia Jenkins, both making their Baton Rouge debuts.

There are many ways to enjoy this concert with options for table seating and lawn seating.  Patrons may bring in outside catering with the exception of alcohol.  Lawn seating patrons may bring blankets and lawn chairs.  We encourage patrons to decorate their table and even come in costume consistent with the theme.  This is a family friendly event and appropriate for all ages.

* Patrons may bring food and beverages onto the property with the exception of alcohol, which will be available for sale.
